About Scrap't Art

A bit about me and this new adventure ...

I'm pretty excited about all the possibilities that the metaverse and Web 3.0 are opening up - combining real world experiences with digital is going to change so many areas of our day-to-day life. Straight out of some of my favorite sci-fi stories, and it's interesting to see it grow in real time.

Cryptocurrencies - I'm not 100% sold on crypto. It’s all over the place, and feels more like throwing money into a slot machine and hoping for the best of luck. Too much stress for me. I hope it stabilizes and all the pieces start working together more efficiently. Until then, I'm just going to participate in the chaos in super tiny bits for the most part.

NFT’s - The most promising thing to emerge out of the hype, in my opinion. All the different ways they can be incorporated irl and digitally. The different formats that they can take such as audio, video, visual and assets that can travel with you throughout your metaverse travels. These aren't just fake coins or digital money - you actually get something in return for your hard earned $$ that you can show off or use in a variety of ways.

I respect that people are charging insane amounts of money for their digital assets. Do I think that is sustainable? No. Especially with the cost of getting into crypto, the volatility of the market and the gas fees to move stuff around. It sets a barrier for those of us who don’t have thousands of dollars just sitting in a dusty closet somewhere so the growth potential, at this time, seems very limited and exclusive to me.

There are definitely a lot of things that need to be improved upon in the NFT world. However, every day seems to bring a new avenue or opportunity for collectors and creators; and bit by bit things are being tidied up. Even with all the beta flaws, it's an exciting time.

I'm enjoying testing out the capabilities and showing my support for Web 3.0 when and where I can. I don't expect an insane amount of money for any of the NFT's I create. I enjoy the process of creation and the learning that comes with it. If you are a noob like me, maybe you'll enjoy scoring some free or inexpensive collectibles!

Thanks for your visit and best wishes,
Da'Nela
